History
In March of 2023, after four years of receiving messages from Our Lord in Adoration, the prayers for the devotion to the Divine House Guest of Souls were given to this Eucharistic Adorer.
Over the course of a few weeks, Our Lord described the devotion that He would like to be promulgated out into the world. This included an image which He described in detail. The messages were then given over to this adorer’s spiritual director, a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston. This priest agreed that the
prayers should be submitted to the diocese for review and approval and sent them in.
In August of 2024, word was received that the Devotion and Chaplet had been approved, given the Nihil Obstat and the Imprimatur on August 14th! So began the work of sharing this beautiful, hopeful and delightful devotion with the faithful! Our Lord asked that the work be done by the adorer and his wife, of getting the devotion to His priests, who can offer it to their flocks as a means to a closer encounter with Christ.
We believe that this website will provide another way for Our Lord to travel! We joyfully welcome you to this online home where we will share reflections and updates. Please do join the email subscription located in the footer of the page. We would love to read your reflections and/or experiences with the Divine House Guest of Souls as well! If you would consider allowing us to post them under our ‘Reflections’ section, please include that in your contact form.
“O my Divine House Guest, one can never say Thank You enough for these Your Eucharistic visits.” The Devotion to the Divine House Guest of Souls, invites us to warmly welcome Our Lord Jesus Christ as we receive Him in Holy Communion and then to offer Him rest, refreshment, silence and delight, in the interior room of the soul. Rooted in Scripture and the hospitality shown to God by Abraham and Sarah; Genesis 18, the devotion invites souls to do the same and to become another close, intimate friend of the Lord’s.
‘May the Divine House Guest be offered hospitality. May He be adored by all hearts who receive Him, all over the world, until the end of time.’
The prayers of the devotion are Eucharistic, silent and contemplative. The prayer begins before Holy Mass as one prays an Act of Contrition, asking forgiveness and cleansing the room of the heart. Upon entering the church, one blesses oneself with Holy Water in the name of the Lord’s victorious cross, then one makes a profound genuflection.
The Eucharistic portion of the devotion is silently prayed before receiving Holy Communion. The soul invites the Divine House Guest of Souls to come in and offers Him rest and love. After receiving the Lord, one enters into a quiet contemplative time with Him, spending those precious moments together.
“O Divine House Guest, who has come into my soul, may You find rest for Yourself. May You find refreshment for Yourself. May You find silence for Yourself. May You take delight in Your stay here.”
The Chaplet to the Divine House Guest is prayed on rosary beads and can be prayed immediately following Mass or alternatively, later on in the day. The prayer is full of love for the One who has entered the soul and allows one to become a good innkeeper of the interior house. For each decade of the Chaplet, the Lord asks us to contemplate the hospitality given to Him by the following great saints and to ask for their assistance and intercession. Abraham and Sarah, the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph the Just, St. Paul of Tarsus, St. John the Beloved and St. Therese of Lisieux.

"Praying the Divine House Guest Devotion has been a great grace for us! One of the first fruits experienced is deep interior peace, "a peace of God that surpasses all understanding". (Philippians 4:7) Before receiving Holy Communion, we prepare our hearts to welcome Jesus into the interior room of our souls. After receiving Him, we offer Him rest, refreshment, silence and love. How can we prepare the interior room of our soul to welcome Him? We prepare by opening our hearts to Him. This is all Our Lord's work. We make a comfortable place for Him to rest offering Him hospitality, a meal and refreshment. In the silence, we listen. The Lord speaks in the silence.
Serving Our Lord during this very special time of prayer, a deep intimacy with Him develops. You will come to know how much He delights in you! When we give Our Lord a little, He gives us so much more. During this time of intimacy with Our Lord, your imagination is engaged. As you contemplate Our Lord's Presence in the interior room of your soul, the Blessed Mother Mary, St. Joseph, the Angels and the Saints will often be present in your contemplation.
Make time after receiving Holy Communion to pray this devotion. Our Lord will enter into the interior room of your soul and your spiritual life will be transformed in ways you can not imagine."
